Charlotte Desprat
Interior & Product Design

EN - Born French and raised in Czechia, trained in history at Yale and then in strategy and innovation consulting, I now approach interior and product design as a way of reading a situation before intervening in it. In each project, I seek
not to impose a signature from the outset, but to build a fitting response that's right for its context : a place, a brand, a set of use cases, and people.

In the summer of 2025, I completed an apprenticeship with a masonry company specializing in eco-renovation, based in Boissy-le-Sec, in the Île-de-France region.
I discovered a responsible approach to restoring historic buildings through the reconstruction of a partially collapsed gable wall on a 16th-century squire’s house. Working alongside the masons, I took part in the various stages of the site and gained a hands-on understanding of traditional techniques and bio-based materials, such as lime-based renders and hemp wool insulation.
Alongside my apprenticeship, I kept a sketchbook. Born as much from participation as from observation, these drawings focus less on the building itself than on the gestures that shape it — mixing render, cutting hemp wool — as well as more ordinary moments, from views across the rooftops to the occasional mishap. Inspired by the style of graphic reportage, these pen drawings aim to capture the rhythm, gestures, and human dimension of construction work.
