Charlotte Desprat
         Interior & Product Design

EN - Born French and raised in Czechia, trained in history at Yale and then in strategy and innovation consulting, I now approach interior and product design as a way of reading a situation before intervening in it. In each project, I seek not to impose a signature from the outset, but to build a fitting response that's right for its context : a place, a brand, a set of use cases, and people.

Worksite Notes - Process

Eco-renovation apprenticeship
Maison Art Santé (MAS)
Year 1
Goal: First, to become familiar with the technical, logistical, and human dimensions of life on a construction site by actively taking part in it; to learn more about sustainable renovation practices; and, in parallel, to document my experience through drawing and a detailed report

Steps of the apprenticeship:

  1. Render gable wall (chipping away and clearing the wall, wetting it down; preparing, transporting, and applying the render; brushing the wall)
  2. Roof insulation (measuring and installing hemp wool, battens, vapor barrier, rafters, and furring strips), done from the inside on one site and from the outside on a second site
  3. Assemble and dismantle scaffolding, paint and install bird blocks, sort waste...
  4. Take notes throughout the apprenticeship
  5. Summarize what I learned in a report accompanied by construction sketches, photos, and drawings — aiming to convey the organization of the worksite, unforeseen challenges, communication dynamics, equipment and workforce management, and the specific gestures involved
